Ingredients
Main ingredients
- Mixed nuts 100 g
- Minced garlic 1 Tbsp
- Spring onion 2 pieces
- Onion 100 g
Optional ingredients
- Pork mince 200 g
- Tofu 200 g
- Canned tuna 200 g
- Cooking wine 1 Tbsp
Sauces
- Chili powder 1 Tbsp
- Sugar 1 Tbsp
- Minced garlic 1 Tbsp
- Soybean paste 4 Tbsp
- Gochujang (Korean chili paste) 2 Tbsp
- Water 5 Tbsp
- Sesame seed 1 Tbsp
- Sesame oil 1 Tbsp
Steps
- 1.Make the ssamjang paste: mix chilli powder, sugar, minced garlic, doenjang (soybean paste), gochujang (Korean chilli paste) and a splash of water.
- 2.Roughly crush the nuts and set aside.
- 3.Finely chop the spring onion and the onion.
- 4.Heat a frying pan over a medium heat and add a tablespoon of oil.
- 5.Tip in the onion and cook until fragrant and translucent.
- 6.Add your optional ingredient – pork, tofu or canned tuna – and stir-fry until cooked through.
- 7.Pour in the cooking wine (for mince pork), followed by the pre-mixed ssamjang paste, and stir for a minute or two so everything is well coated.
- 8.Finish with a drizzle of sesame oil, then scatter over the sesame seeds and the crushed nuts.
Notes
- •You can replace the pork with firm tofu or canned tuna if you prefer.
- •Serve with vegetables – lettuce, cucumber, carrots, and a little boiled cabbage all pair particularly well.
